Question: Now before we begin… let me ask you something What kind of wolf do you want in the story today? If you want a scary, sneaky and dangerous one, say Big Bad Wolf. If you want a greedy but not mean wolf, say little Hungry Wolf.
Answer: Big Bad Wolf
Once upon a time, in a quiet village near the edge of an enchanted forest, there lived a sweet little girl who always wore a bright red hood.
Everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood.
One sunny morning, Mama packed a basket with warm bread for Grandma, who wasn’t feeling well.
Mama said gently, “Take this to Grandma’s house.”
“And remember, go on the main road, not through the forest. And don’t talk to strangers!”
“Okay, Mama!” said Little Red Riding Hood, hugging her tight.
She picked up the basket and set off.
As Little Red reached the edge of the woods, she saw two paths ahead.
Question: Now my dear listener, Which way should she take? If you want her to choose the long, safe main road, passing through the village, say she chose Main Road. If you want her to choose the shortcut through the dark, twisty forest, say she chose Shortcut.
Answer: She chose main road
She skipped happily along the sunny main road, humming to herself.
Butterflies danced beside her, and birds chirped sweet songs.
But then… a tall stranger stepped out from behind a tree.
It was the Big Bad Wolf.
He tilted his head and smiled, pretending to be friendly.
“Excuse me, little girl,” he said. “I’m lost. Could you tell me the way back to the forest?”
Little Red, being polite, pointed to the trail behind her. “It’s that way.”
The wolf thanked her, turned… and then disappeared into the forest because he saw the hunter, who had been chasing him for a few days, coming from the other side.
"Hello Little Red, where are you going?" said the hunter.
"Hello, I'm going to my Grandma's house at the edge of the forest." said Little Red.
"Stay on the main road. The forest is very dangerous" said the hunter.
"Yes. Thank you for reminding me. Have a good day, Mr. Hunter. Goodbye" said Little Red, continued her way.
The wolf wasn't lost at all. He heard what Little Red said to the hunter and he knew a shortcut.
Before Little Red arrived, the wolf had already reached Grandma’s house.
The wolf knocked the door, pretended to be Little Red. When Grandma opened the door, the wolf gave her a fright, tucked her in the closet, and dressed up in her nightgown and glasses.
Then he climbed into bed and waited.
When Little Red got there, she knocked gently.
“Come in, my dear,” said a strange, raspy voice.
The room was dim. Grandma lay in bed, her face mostly covered by blankets.
"Come closer, my dear, I want to see you"
Question: Now my dear listener, what should Little Red do? If you think Little Red did not notice the difference and went near the bed, says She went near the bed. If you think Little Red noticed the strange, stayed far and watched carefully, says she stayed far.
Answer: She went near the bed
The grumbly voice made Little Red pause for a moment.
“Grandma must be sick,” she thought. “That’s why her voice sounds different.”
She placed her basket gently on the floor and stepped closer to the bed.
As she looked more closely, she noticed Grandma’s eyes and nose looked red and unusually large.
But again, she told herself, “She’s probably just not feeling well.”
Then she leaned in just a little more… and froze.
Grandma’s teeth, they were sharp. And very big. This reminded her of someone she had seen before.
“Grandma...” she whispered, “what big teeth you have…”
“All the better to - EAT you with” roared the wolf.
Question: Now my dear listener, Little Red knew that the wolf pretended to be Grandma and her real grandma could be in danger. What should Little Red do? If you think that she should rescue grandma by herself, says she should rescue grandma. If you think that she should run away and find someone to help her, says she should ask for help.
Answer: She should rescue grandma
Just as the wolf leapt forward with a growl, Little Red gasped,
“WAIT! I forgot something in my basket, your favorite pie!”
The wolf blinked. “Pie?”
“Yes!” he said. “Let me get it.”
She opened her basket, grabbed a pepper shaker, and threw it at his nose!
“A-A-ACHOO!!” the wolf sneezed so hard that his hat flew off!
Taking her chance, Little Red grabbed the broom by the door.
She shouted, “Let Grandma go!” and gave the broom a big swing!
The wolf got scared, stumbled backward, and tripped over the bed.
THUMP! He ran out the door, sneezing all the way into the forest and never came back.
Little Red Riding Hood rushed to the closet and opened the door. “Grandma! Are you okay?” Little Red cried.
Grandma stepped out of the closet, smiling and brushing herself off.
“I’m just fine, thanks to your quick thinking!” She pulled Little Red into a warm hug. “You were very brave, my dear.”
“I didn’t know what else to do… so I tricked him!” said Little Red.
Grandma chuckled softly. “And it worked. You were clever but that wolf was dangerous. Things could’ve gone very differently.”
Little Red looked down at her shoes. “I'm sorry...”
“Being clever saved you today. But being careful will protect you always.”, said grandma
That afternoon, they shared the warm bread and a pot of tea. They laughed, talked, and stayed close.
And from that day on, Little Red Riding Hood remembered two important lessons: Always listen to the people who care about you, and never forget that even on the safest path, danger can still wear a smile.
The End.
